A sad update today. The Javan rhino (one of the 5 rhino species alive today) has lost a foothold in one of it's indigenous areas. The International Rhino Foundation is now calling the population living in Vietnam extinct. "We are sad to report that a recent analysis has confirmed the extinction of the Javan rhino in Vietnam. " There is still a population (30-40 animals) in Indonesia, but it ain't much. This may be one of those species we see disappear in our lifetime.
