Mammoths are an extinct species of elephant that were the largest type of elephant to exist. And while they certainly work very well as mounts, I think they could do a ton of damage as hunter pets.   I mean, what could be more imposing to have coming at you, or to say fill your screen in pvp.

There are three living species of elephants the African Elephant (Loxodonta africana)-below, the Forest elephant (Loxodonta cyclotis) and the Asian elephant (Elephas maximus.)-above.  They are the largest land animal and are strictly herbivores.   African elephants are the largest of the three and also have the largest ears.  They have the biggest brains, live as long as we do, are able to learn and remember and are adaptable as working animals.

Anyone notice that these guys don't have ears?

The social structures in-game of a herd with one adult male, a bunch of females and kids follows elephant social dynamics well.

Babies!

So cute, I just can't help gush at babies and the sounds and movement of these guys is just endearing.

Elephants are pregnant for 22 months and the calf is about 250 lbs at birth!  They are up and moving around within an hour.  Often the female calves will stay with the herd their whole life. The males will eventually be ousted by the bull (dominant male.)  For genetics sake, by the time the female calves are large enough to breed their dad has been ousted by a more powerful male elephant and so inbreeding rarely occurs.
