Gorilla

Picture

Gorilla (Gorilla gorilla)

Picture
There are 2 species (eastern and western) and both are endangered.  The are the largest living primates and tend to have peaceful groups with an adult male (Silverback), adult females and juveniles.  They are also herbivores and considered the most intelligent land mammals apart from humans.

Howlers and Bonobos

Picture
Poop is not just for flinging, it is also for painting and sharing.

Picture
Bonobos (Pan paniscus) are a sub species of chimpanzees who have been shown to be less aggressive, less warlike and have a matriarchal society (instead of the patriarchal chimpanzee.) Chimps are omnivores, eating both meat and plant material.  They are also endangered.
